(the) captain(‘s room) cafe – geneva, ny

good morning

this is a blog post about a place that i actually went to last month, i did not have a blog yet but i wrote down very good notes about this egg benedict (and the restaurant) so that i could tell you all about it.

the first thing that i would like to tell you is that i do not know what the name of this cafe is. on some web sites it is called “the captain’s room” or “the captain’s room cafe” and then on other web sites it is called “captain’s cafe.” even on their facebook.com social media page they are called “captains cafe” but the url says “captainsroomcafe.” you can go and look at it yourself if you would like to try to learn more about this mystery.

the reasons i went to geneva (which is a town in new york that is very different than the **very large city** in switzerland that you might have heard about online or from planning a trip to europe) was because i travel all over for my job to visit people who need my help. geneva is a very nice place near a lake and many places to drink pretty good wine and have a meal so i am always sure to stop and visit.

(please be aware: this time i forgot to take pictures of the lake because i was having a fun time after my work was done. i am very sorry but the next time i go i will take more pictures so you can see this very neat town.)

i found an advertisement for this cafe which said that they had different kinds of food with cbd in them. this is not a blog about cbd but it is something i have tried and for many people it is helpful when they have anxiety or other problems. the problem is that sometimes cbd foods do not taste so good. at captain’s cafe i had one of the cookies with cbd and it was very tasty, fluffy, and sweet, even better than most cookies that do not have cbd.

however this is not a blog about cookies! this is a blog about eggy bennies. here is what i can tell you about that.

**please note** this is not a photography blog and sometimes this means the pictures will look like this

as you can see i was very hungry and could not take a picture before i started eating the egg benedict. this was a very normal egg benedict because it was eggs and ham and hollandaise sauce on top of an english muffin. it is very appreciated when you can get a regular eggy benny without anything too fancy because many places do not do this. but the captain’s cafe does, so i was very pleased.

you can probably notice by looking at the egg benedict that the hollandaise sauce is **very thick**. there were even some places where it was a little bit congealed which did not look very pretty even though it tasted great.

do not ever judge a benedict by this!! it is deceptive and can be delicious

everyone knows that the hollandaise sauce is the most important part of the eggy benny. at this cafe the hollandaise sauce was the star. the flavor was just right because it was tangy and creamy, and all the ingredients came together in a very good way. even the color was very good. the only thing you can complain about is the texture, but that is not so important when it tastes very good.

the stars are decorations from me, they do not come on the egg benedict

you will also notice that the ham on this eggy benny in particular is **very thick** and steaky but again you should not be deceived. the ham was tender and not too chewy, and it was also not too salty. i would also rate the ham as very good. it was cooked so it was tender and you do not have to worry that your egg benedict will fall apart because of trouble cutting through the ham.

you might also notice that the egg is not leaking when you cut through it (!). this is ok because it was still a very good poached egg and the yolk does leak out when you cut a little deeper. you could still get a very good bite from this eggy benny where you could taste all the flavors at the same time including the yolk from the poached egg.

very soon after i started eating this egg went from good to gone. it was not the prettiest one in the world but that did not matter on a busy day when i was very hungry and only wanted to eat my favorite breakfast!!

as for the cafe and the people who make the egg benedict and bring it to you, they are very nice even though their cafe is very busy. geneva has many good places to eat but this is one of the popular places to go and i think this is because they will always fill up your coffee so that you can have more energy for the day. you can sit outside if you want but if it is hot out watch out for wasps!!

overall this was a very good egg benedict. if you ever have to go to geneva for your job or for any other reason then you should try to get this eggy benny at the captain’s cafe, and if you are still hungry you should try the other treats they have.
